What are Business Days?

Business days, also known as working days, are the days of the week when most businesses and government offices are open. In most countries, business days are Monday through Friday, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Knowing the number of business days between two dates is essential for project planning, deadline calculations, shipping estimates, legal timelines, and employment-related calculations such as notice periods or leave balances.

It provides a summary showing business days, weekend days, total calendar days, and a breakdown of how many Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays fall within the range.

How Business Days are Calculated

The calculator loops through each day from the start date to the end date (inclusive). For each day, it checks the day of the week. If the day falls on Monday through Friday (weekday), it is counted as a business day. Saturday and Sunday are counted as weekend days. The total calendar days is simply the difference between the two dates plus one (since both dates are included).

Note: This calculator does not account for public holidays, as holidays vary by country and region. For precise business-day calculations involving holidays, you may need to manually subtract applicable holiday days from the result.

Does this calculator include public holidays?

No, this calculator counts only Monday through Friday as business days. Public holidays that fall on weekdays are not excluded automatically. You can manually subtract any public holidays that fall within your date range from the business day count.

Are the start and end dates included in the count?

Yes, both the start date and the end date are included in the calculation. If you want to exclude the start date (for example, when calculating "days after today"), simply set the start date to the day after.
